TO FIND AN INCREDIBLY SKILLFUL OPENSTACK ARCHITECT
Our client is a big company that provides cloud and edge solutions for the gaming industry and media businesses. They offer their clients a lot of technically complex services, and to provide them, the team needs highly-qualified specialists.
And that was the task they came to Avarn with. The client needed an OpenStack architect so skilled others could only eat their dust.
OpenStack itself is quite complex as in “everyone has heard of it but little to no has tried it”. The platform was relatively new at the moment: tough to work with, even tougher to support. To find an architect ready to tame OpenStack was an advanced task.
GOING BACK TO THE ROOTS
When there are many requirements for a particular specialist, it naturally narrows the search. In this case, the recruiter realized that the requirements were so tight the search included between around five to seven people. A needle in the haystack, right?
However, we managed to find a candidate. He was the one at the very root of the OpenStack community of Eastern European region. A huge specialist who was hard to contact.
You can barely contact someone like this through ordinary job boards and websites — one needs to have skills to do so. Obviously, our LinkedIn message to this guy was ignored. Then, the recruiter went through all the conferences where this candidate might be a speaker, through all the forums and professional communities … like a hound picking up a trail. Eventually, the recruiter managed to contact the candidate through an email that he found on one of the websites in the “contact the speaker” form.
GOOD CONDITIONS FOR A POWERFUL CANDIDATE
After quite some negotiation, the candidate agreed to talk to the client. The company was more than satisfied with his experience, and he was interested in the opportunity to lead the architecture design of new CDN projects on OpenStack
