TO FIND DEVELOPERS WHO ARE READY FOR A LONG PROCESSING

One of our clients is a European outsourcer who develops software for companies, banks, and investment trusts. The head office for the developers is situated in Prague. Our client needed two middle and senior PL/SQL developers for the new project. They wanted their developers to be from the Eastern European Countries: it’s relatively easy to get their documentation in order for a relocation to the Czech Republic. However, the company didn’t have any recruiters in the region, so they asked us to do it.

Getting an offer and preparing all the documents usually takes up to 3-4 months in the Czech Republic. Throughout this time period, the candidate goes through technical interviews, gets a visa, and looks for accommodation in Prague. There’s a lot of bustles, and few are okay with a process that takes this long. We had to find developers who were ready to go all the way with it.

LOOKING FOR EMPLOYED AND AMBITIOUS PEOPLE

People who are looking for a job right now are unlikely to wait four months for a new job to begin. Even if one says it’s okay for now, so many things can change throughout this time. A person can easily go for another vacancy and mess up all our cards . That’s why we only worked with those specialists who were already employed and who hadn’t posted their CVs online in a while. They would be ready to initiate the relocation while still working so that they didn’t lose time or money.

There was also another point to consider. The client’s candidates were to be ambitious. Relocation to Central and Western Europe for many local developers is considered a step-up careers-wise. If the person were not ambitious enough, they could easily change their mind and stay home, and that was unacceptable for us. A passionate developer would never do that.

So while interviewing candidates, we were evaluating their plans and motives. Does this person really want to up their skills and work on complex projects? Is the international market important for this specialist? If one doesn’t want to work and grow, then probably one doesn’t need relocation.

To cut a long story short, we chose two people who were a perfect fit for both requirements. They moved to Prague despite the long processing time.
